How Cerina works

Cerina is an app designed by psychologists to support people experiencing anxiety. It can be used as a standalone treatment, or alongside face-to-face therapy.

Using a CBT framework, the app will guide you through exercises to help you better understand your symptoms and learn to manage your worries.

What to expect on your Cerina journey:

  1. When you first join Cerina, you’ll be invited to take a GAD7 questionnaire. This is a globally certified measure of anxiety symptoms, and will help us tailor our support to best fit your needs.

  2. Once you enter the app, we’ll ask you how you’re feeling today. Tracking your mood each day is a great opportunity to check in with yourself, and can help you see your progress over time.

  3. The ‘Your Journey’ tab is where the magic happens. You’ll be guided through short therapy-style sessions, based on a tried and tested CBT framework designed to help you better understand and manage your anxiety symptoms.

  4. On your Home screen, you’ll find Hedgie, your AI pal available to chat 24/7. You can speak to Hedgie about anything without judgement - everything you say here stays confidential.

  5. On the ‘Self-care’ tab, you’ll find lots more resources to help you with anxiety, including informative podcasts and articles, guided breathing exercises, and links to resources if you need some more support.

FAQs

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT focuses on recognizing and challenging negative and unhelpful thought patterns, beliefs, and behaviours that may contribute to feelings of anxiety. So By using CBT, people can learn to identify and understand their unhelpful thoughts and feelings and develop strategies to better manage them.

Anxiety is a natural response to stress or a perceived threat. It is a feeling of unease, worry, or fear that can range from mild to severe and can be characterized by physical symptoms such as increased heart rate, sweating, trembling, and shallow breathing. Most people feel anxious at times. It's particularly common to experience some anxiety while coping with stressful events or changes, especially if they could have a big impact on your life. But some people find it hard to control their worries. Their feelings of anxiety are more constant and can often affect their daily lives.

Generalised Anxiety Disorder is a long-term condition that causes you to feel anxious about a wide range of situations and issues, rather than one specific event. People with GAD feel anxious most days and often struggle to remember the last time they felt relaxed. As soon as one anxious thought is resolved, another may appear about a different issue.

CBT is the most effective form of therapeutic treatment for anyone suffering from anxiety.
